The link below is a collection of lesson plans and a unit plan that I designed and delivered as part of the instructional communication course. These lesson plans were to reflect the development of a course so that each plan built off of the previous one. The most challenging part of this assignment, and the most educational, was maintaining continuity between lesson plans. This involved understanding what knowledge students needed to already have before a particular lesson could be taught and designing future lesson plans to reinforce past concepts, test previously learned material, and integrate new information into the conceptual framework that has been created by the previous lessons. This assignment helped me think on a broader scale about courses and helped me design the Unit Plan for the same course. The Unit Plan and Lesson plans, together, helped me understand the logistical issues with designing curriculum. Especially, it made me more aware of the need for differentiated instruction in the classroom and the pressures faced by a teacher in designing a course that meets standards, keeps students engaged, and addresses all the needs within a classroom.
