When is Khinkali Consumed?
Khinkali was once eaten quite frequently in the mountainous region of Georgia.  According to a famous Georgian poet named Vazha Pshavela (1861-1915), khinkali was the main meal for every family in the mountainous region Pshavi of Eastern Georgia where he was from ("Vazha-Pshavela." and Kuchukhidze).  Today, khinkali is usually served at celebrations when people have guests and it is not considered a daily meal for the home.  Quite the opposite, khinkali is typically eaten when people go out to eat.  According to Kuchukhidze, nearly everyone orders it when they go out to restaurants.
